Neurological Physio Birmingham | Specialist Physiotherapy
Miranda’s Physio Steps provides neurological physiotherapy for Birmingham adults with stroke, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, cerebral palsy, motor neurone disease, neuropathy, spinal injury and other neurological conditions. Our Birmingham specialist physiotherapy service combines individual treatment with support.
Our team supports rehabilitation after hospital discharge, long-term condition management and private physiotherapy alongside NHS care, supporting safer movement, confidence and independence.
What Is Neurological Rehabilitation?
Neurological rehabilitation supports patients whose movement, balance, coordination or sensation is affected by the brain, spinal cord or nervous system. Repeated, meaningful physiotherapy can encourage adaptation and support recovery.
Treatment can focus on sitting, standing, walking, transfers, posture, arm function and everyday activities. Each rehabilitation plan is tailored to the person’s condition, environment and goals.
Conditions We Treat
Our Birmingham service supports patients with stroke, acquired or traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, cerebral palsy, motor neurone disease, neuropathy, spinal cord injury, brain tumours, spinal tumours and other neurological conditions.
We also treat older adults after illness, infection, surgery, a fall or time in hospital. Patients should be medically stable before starting community rehabilitation.
Your Initial Assessment
During the initial assessment, an experienced neurophysiotherapist will assess movement, balance, mobility, coordination, posture, confidence, and difficulty with daily tasks. We will also discuss your goals, medical history, existing support and any referral information.
Patients can approach the clinic about a private referral or self-referral. A family member, carer or health professional can assist where required. They don’t need a referral; they can just call us.
Your Rehabilitation Plan
Following assessment, your physiotherapist will create an individual rehabilitation program. Treatment may include task practice, strengthening, balance work, walking and transfer practice, flexibility exercises, positioning, fatigue management, education and advice for patients, families and carers.
High repetition is often important in neurological rehabilitation. The aim is to practise movement safely, improve function and help patients gain as much independence as their condition allows.

We provide a respectful, person-centred service in Birmingham. Rehabilitation can take place at our Kings Norton clinic or in suitable homes, nursing homes and residential settings across Birmingham, helping patients practise mobility where it matters.
Our service and team can liaise with families, carers and other professionals, providing rehab support through each stage of rehabilitation and advice if required.
Neurological Exercise Classes
Our mixed neurological and general rehab classes make movement safe, social and enjoyable. Adults with different conditions and abilities can join, and carers are welcome. New members should speak to Miranda before attending.
Our classes are held at the Shirley Community Centre on Fridays: 12:15 pm – 1:05 pm (sitting) or 1:30 pm – 2:15 pm (higher-intensity, mixed sitting & standing).
Classes cost £10 per session, with no membership or administration fee.
This needs to be changed to 40 pounds per month ( which will give you 4/5 sessions per week, plus a Zoom class on Tuesday afternoons from 2.45-3.15). No administration fees.
